Whitetail Properties’ Pete Alfano came to SpringMeadows on a mission to take down the legendary Yardstick. The weather hampered most of his first trip in October, however he still managed to produce 3 different stalks within 70-80 yards of the beast but was never able to make a draw back with his bow. Pete returned to SpringMeadows the weekend after Thanksgiving. With Yardstick gone, Pete was still determined to take down one of the legendary sandhills giants that SpringMeadows is known for. On his first sit, Pete was able to arrow this great muley buck!

It is the last week before the 2011 Rifle season begins in Nebraska and we would like to thank all of our bow hunters who hunted with us so far this fall. We have had a great start to the 2011 hunting season with a huge elk harvested by rifle and some awesome whitetail and mule deer killed with the bow so far. See our Trophies section for the latest pictures. There have been some great stalks put on the legendary Yardstick, but by his elusiveness he still romes his kingdom today. We have also seen a lot of other great deer with more and more trophies showing up every day with the rut in full gear now. We can only hope for great success to begin this weekend when our rifle hunters arrive!

With less than a week gone by into the 2011 bow hunting season, SpringMeadows has led off the new season just as they finished last season, with nothing but a big buck down!
